Tomáš Král studied at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno under Adriana Hlavsová, where he took part in masterclasses with Julie Hasler, Howard Crook, Peter Schreier and Joel Frederiksen. Since 2005, he has collaborated regularly with Czech ensembles such as Collegium 1704, Collegium Marianum, Musica Florea. He also joined forces to other European ensembles and orchestras including Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra, Collegium Vocale Gent, La Venexiana, Vox Luminis, Holland Baroque Orchestra, B’Rock Orchestra, Gli Angeli Genève, Ensemble Pygmalion.
He has appeared at European venues and festivals including Prague Spring, Dresdner Festspiele, Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Sablé, Festival d’Ambronay, Oude Muziek Utrecht, MA Brugge, BOZAR in Brussels, Wien Konzerthaus, London’s Wigmore hall, Wratislavia Cantans, Salzburger Festspiele and elsewhere. During the season 2017/18, Tomas sang Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium at the Musikverein in Vienna, Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine with Gli Angeli Genève under Stephan MacLeod, Bach’s Magnificat with B’Rock Orchestra under Benjamin Bayl, Vivaldi’s L’Olimpiade (Clistene) with Wrocław Baroque Orchestra under Rinaldo Alessandrini, and, Telemann’s Der Tag des Gerichts with il Gardellino under Peter Van Heyghen. He also started collaboration with Raphaël Pichon, and his Ensemble Pygmalion, with different programmes focussing on Bach’s cantatas as well as his Johannes Passion where he took part of Jesus.
