Dunedin Consort announces a new Chair of its Board of Directors
In advance of their opening concerts on 26 and 27 September in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Dunedin Consort is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Horn as its new Chair of the Board of Directors, effective from 4 September 2026. He succeeds Jenny Stewart who has been Chair of the Board for the last 5 years and a Trustee since 2019.
Announcing her departure, Jenny Stewart writes:
“It has been an absolute joy and a privilege to be a part of the Dunedin Consort family. They are award winning musicians with an outstanding international reputation. Dunedin combines wonderful concerts and recordings with a huge commitment to music making in our local schools and communities, along with giving opportunities and training to young professional musicians just starting out. It is a very special mix.
Over recent years, Dunedin Consort was a bright light during the pandemic, making the most of performing online. Thanks to our generous funders and supporters, the ensemble emerged raring to go with exciting programmes of music from the 11th to the 21st century, including beautiful newly commissioned works and creative partnerships. We have performed in more places in Scotland than ever before, widened our reach in London and at UK festivals and added prestigious new venues to our international touring. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this happen.”
Alan Horn is a highly experienced chair and charity trustee. In both his non- executive and executive roles, he has been at the forefront of working closely with funders and supporters to promote the arts in Scotland.
Alan writes:
“I am delighted and honoured to take on the role of Chair of the Board of Directors at Dunedin Consort.
I offer my personal thanks to the outgoing Chair, Jenny Stewart, for her kind and generous welcome to the Dunedin family, and for steering the organisation so well over the last 5 years.
Dunedin Consort has brought amazing, world-class performers and performances to audiences across Scotland and beyond for 30 years, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team, as we enter our 31st season with undiminished ambition and enthusiasm.”
Andrew Trinick, Chief Executive, commented.
“It is truly wonderful to welcome Alan to the Dunedin Consort family, bringing with him his enthusiasm and love for the Arts, and there is much for him to be proud of as Dunedin start its new season with a series of incredible concerts, great collaborations, and really wide-ranging learning and participation activity.
It is also a moment to thank Jenny Stewart for her incredible service as Trustee and Chair of Dunedin Consort over these last 7 years. Dunedin Consort goes from strength to strength, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for her exceptional leadership and passionate service, and for leaving a strong foundation for the future.”
Ends.
