Out Of Her Mouth

Wednesday 12th July @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

- £10 – £40

Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre’s biblical cantatas are extraordinary historical jewels. Written by a woman, about women and for women, they tell bold, unflinching tales about love, marriage, tragedy and adultery. These breath-taking miniatures – telling the stories of Susanne, Rachel & Judith – have never before been staged in the UK; now, produced in new English translations by Toria Banks, they champion the ability of women to tell their own stories and narrate their own experiences.

Join us for three short cantatas, beautifully crafted into miniature operas, presented within three very different spaces.

We open at the NCEM, enjoy a complimentary refreshment break in the garden, then walk to the Great Hall of the Merchant Adventurers in Fossgate, and finish as the shadows lengthen in the Hall’s atmospheric Undercroft.

A co-production between Dunedin Consort, Hera & Mahogany Opera

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
