Kirsti Apajalahti

Finnish violinist Kirsti Apajalahti started learning the violin at the age of four and hopes to continue playing her favourite instrument for as long as possible. She has performed with orchestras such as Holland Baroque, De Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, Millenium Orchestra and Orkester Nord, and regularly leads the Finnish baroque orchestra, Espoon Barokki.  

Kirsti has collaborated with, amongst others, Christina Pluhar and L’Arpeggiata, and Cappella Mediterranea. She plays with many smaller groups such as the early music ensemble KConsort, who primarily perform music by female composers, and the double bass-violin group, DUO Kirsti&Eva, who specialise in contemporary music.  

Kirsti has won first prize in ensemble competitions in both the Netherlands and Finland, and received an audience award with KConsort at the Fontys De Toonzaal Chamber Music Competition in 2016. Kirsti obtained her Master of Music degree at Utrecht Conservatoire, where she had the privilege of studying with Antoinette Lohmann, and in 2023 she became the artistic director of Elokuun barokki, a new early music festival in Kanta-Häme in Finland.
