Euan McDonald

Tenor, Bridging the Gap

Scottish Tenor, Euan McDonald, is currently pursuing his Masters in Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the guidance of Scott Johnson. Euan recently graduated with First Class Honours in his Bachelor of Music from the RCS and is supported by the Help Musicians postgraduate award and the RCS Scholarship fund, which has assisted him in continuing his studies.   

Euan’s operatic solo engagements include: Gherardo Gianni Schicchi (Fife Opera), Ferrando Cosí fan tutte (RCS Opera Scenes), Nemorino L’elisir d’amore (AGOS Cover Role Scenes). His operatic chorus engagements include: Cendrillon by Massenet (RCS), L’étoile by Chabrier (RCS), Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck (RCS), as well as work with Scottish Opera in Massenet’s Werther and Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana with Fife Opera.    

Euan was selected as one of Karen Cargill’s Associate Artists for the 2022/23 term, culminating in a performance at the 2023 Cumnock Tryst. Within the RCS, Euan has won the Elgar Spedding Memorial Lieder Prize and the Hugh S Roberton Prizes for Scottish Singing. Additionally, he received highly commended in the Leonie Kayser Competition. Euan’s performances as tenor soloist have included Mozart’s Requiem (2023, 2022, 2019), Haydn’s Creation (2022), and Handel’s Messiah (2021). 

As a Leverhulme Scholar in the National Youth Choir of Scotland’s Chamber Choir, Euan has toured venues such as the Edinburgh International Festival, Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Philarmonie de Paris.   

Euan is excited to join the Dunedin Bridging the Gap Young Artist Programme 2023/24 which will grant him the opportunity to grow as an artist and build his portfolio.
