Handel’s Israel in Egypt
Workshops and Performance - click here to download application form
The Dunedin Consort invites you to join them in an exciting project of workshops around the country which will culminate in a performance of Handel’s great oratorio Israel in Egypt on Saturday 9 February 2008 at The Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh. This is an expansion of the very successful project in January 2007 when over 30 amateur singers spent a weekend in Dunblane exploring Bach’s Motets and those of his forefathers and performed in Dunblane Cathedral with the Dunedin Consort. Both projects are subsidised by the Scottish Arts Council.
The workshops will be led by John Butt and Susan Hamilton, artistic directors of the Dunedin Consort, together with leading singers of the Consort. The Dunedin Consort will be joined by leaders of the Dunedin Players and students of the RSAMD for the performance in Edinburgh. Singers can attend either the residential weekend at Scottish Churches House in Dunblane or a day of workshops in one of four cities – Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Perth. Those who attend the residential weekend will be invited to form the main choir in the oratorio. The residential weekend will include a lecture by John Butt (Gardiner Professor of Music at the University of Glasgow) as well as social activity.
Residential workshop: Dunblane, 18–20 January
The cost of the residential weekend is £210 per person (sharing a twin or double room) or £245 per person (single room). Single rooms are limited in number and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Single occupancy of a double room will cost £290. The cost includes all meals and workshops. A deposit of £50 is required with the application.
Day workshops
The cost of the day workshops in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth is £30, with a £15 concession for students
and unwaged. Applications for these workshops should be accompanied by the full fee, which is for the workshops only.

Bring your own score or order a Novello Vocal Score in advance for collection at the workshops from the Dunedin Consort for £8.95 each. (Please enclose payment for this when you send in your application form and deposit.) A limited
